about

A talented vocalist with an original flair for song writing that blends an array of styles from jazz to soul to groove based composition. Check her out!"
Lauren Kinsella – Snowpoet

Vocalist Lucinda Fosker is poised to release her debut solo album
'I Get Along' on March 12th 2021. This long awaited follow up to the extended EP ‘Walking Blind’ featuring BBC Radio 3 broadcaster and multi-talented musician Soweto Kinch, is a big step forward for the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire graduate as she continues to build bridges between the pop and jazz repertoire with this collection of hip standards and groovy original songs all treated to Lucinda’s contemporary flair.

A reharmonised ‘Pennies from Heaven’ starts off with a rubato pedal building to a swinging performance, setting a high bar for the rest of the tunes. Tenor saxophonist Chris Young rips it up over the changes on Dave Frishberg’s ‘I’m Hip’ while Lucinda’s pared back treatment of ‘Say it isn’t So’, draws out the melancholy and vulnerability of the lyric. A catchy calypso style intro leading surprisingly into ‘On The Street Where You Live’ and a delightfully understated, ethereal vocal on the title track are among the other gems to be found on this sparkling debut.

Her three original songs are an impressive introduction to Lucinda’s talent for drawing together traditional influences and flair for contemporary song-writing into works that blend seamlessly into the more standard repertoire.

Lucinda has already played at some of the country's leading festivals and venues, including Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Mostly Jazz and Funk, Bedford River Festival, Zero Degrees Festival, Symphony Hall Foyer Birmingham, Piano bar Soho, The Jam House and The Hare and Hounds. She has honed her craft alongside jazz greats such as Anita Wardell, Tina May, Norma Winstone, Liane Carroll and John Taylor. In 2020, Lucinda was awarded a Jazz South commission.

‘I Get Along’ makes a real statement of intent as Lucinda prepares to step into the spotlight, attracting attention and ultimately bringing her the much wider recognition that she deserves.
